The Heat Returns

So it's mid-July. I should be surprised that it's hot? Well, of course I'm not. But that doesn't make it any more pleasant. I've learned that I need to buy one more fan for my apartment, to have one in each major room on the worst days.

I should also buy some small stereo speakers and a bunch of cord to put in my computer room, so I can listen to music or SportsCenter more easily while I'm writing stuff like these journal entries. I bet I could get some small, cheap speakers for 50 bucks or less. I'd probably pay for cord good enough to extend that far, though.

Rather than writing journal entries in my free time today, I worked on my redesign some more. I did the year page and the month page. I'm pretty happy with them, but still a little put off by the text, which isn't quite right for the numbers. Must continue to cogitate.

Tonight I went out to dinner with Bill and his wife Julie and some of their friends to celebrate Julie's birthday. We went to a Nepali place near work which Julie loves, and which was very tasty. (As usual, I much prefer dinners at Nepali and Indian places to lunch buffets. Buffet food is always so lackluster.)

We had a good time. Julie I think likes having friends around for events like this. We went back to their place afterwards for cake, and I met a few more of their friends and got invited to a barbecue at the end of the month. Should be interesting! I guess I'll finally meet a few more of the local SF fans out here.

One of the guys at the dinner had worked for Apple for ten years, and his father had worked there for even longer - had been employee #34, apparently. Wow!
