Other People's Pictures

The proofs for Sean and Heather's wedding came in recently, and they dropped them off at Mom's last night. I liked a some of them a lot, and this one in particular. Stephanie and Heather look like they're having a hell of a time on the dance floor. Plus, neither one seems to be able to be able to take a bad picture.

I have so little to write about tonight! I was in work for over six hours on my scheduled day off (two mandatory meetings, so I wasn't just being my usual workaholic self).

The meeting with knowledge management was such a breath of fresh air. Adults! Talking sabout real subjects and issues! A boos who is nice, and open to ideas from anone working for her. I'm really going to like it there.

I spent the day taking photos of the new hires at the Consulting Company. They needed a headshot for the facebook and their security badges.

I got in a little early, created a sign-in sheet so I'd know when everyone was done, and waited. And waited. Finally someone came in and told me that everybody's late to these things, so I ran upstairs, got my laptop and waited for people in the atrium while checking e-mail, playing with Chris' website, and not much else.

The only problem I had taking pictures is that the wall they take them against (it's a light gray) is very dark. For some reason, they put the photo station directly under the stairs (I felt like Harry Potter, with his under-the-stairs bedroom).

The whole process took a little over 90 minutes, and I made sure to get to know the new peoples' faces and names, so I'' be able to say hi to them in the hallway, should our paths cross.

Me giving a toast at Sean and Heather's wedding. I didn't realize the tux fited so well when I was wearing it, but apparently the guy who fitted me knows his stuff.

After all the pictures were taken, resized and sent to their respective requestors, I went to the meeting mentioned above. It was very relaxed and organized, and everybody was vey nice. I can't wait to get started.

I finally left the office around 4pm (Hmmm...8-4? That's a whole workday!) and headed home. I had to stop at Walgreeen's to pick up some medication. Sine I had some time to kill before the prescription was ready, I wandered the store. Everything there looks like it might come in useful at some point, and I had to resist the urge to shop. I did pick up two things for Sean and Heather's new baby (a pacifier thermometer and a medication dispenser...they're going to think I belive they have a sickly child, but they were there and something that someone else wouldn't have thought of, so I got them with my prescription.

I went home to the scent of honey peanut chicken (or something like that), which Rachel Ray did on one of her episodes of 30 Minute Meals. It's basically a boneless chicken breast which is covered in ground honey-roasted peanuts, then fried and baked in an oven for about 15 minutes or so. Delicious!

I basically slugged for the rest of the night. We watched NCIS and then The Amazing Race, which, as you know, is like crack for me. I like all the teams this yea, except Rob and Amber, just because I've seen them both on two different Survivors. I get the feeling that I would actually like them if I had never watched Survivor before, because they're plucky and sneaky and whatnot, but I just can't get past the fact that they were evil. And Rob? When you talk about "we" winning a million dollars, you mean "Amber" won a million dollars. It's not yours to play with, unless she gives you permission.

This is a picture The Fabulous Robert took of me during the chorale concert we went to. I'm not posing (though it looks like I am). Robert simply got me at a good time, when I was turning my head to look at him. Still, it means I can be photogenic even without the "Patrick Angle"

We then watched Blind Justice, which was surprisingly better than I thought. I figured the main character would have super-developed senses of smell and taste and hearing, but they only played that angle enough so that we know he can do his work. I might turn out to like this show, or else I'll skip it and watch something else on Tuesday nights.

Mom had her toast late (she has a slice of toast and some cereal at night, otherwise she waked up hungry after a few hours' sleep), so the dogs needed to be put out later (they won't go outside if they haven't gotten the toast crusts), and by the time I put them out, it was a total whiteout. Snow was flying in the very heavy winds, going sideways at times.

The dogs use a run with a metal clip which always freezes when it's cold outside. So I had to stand with two very impatient dogs to heat up the lock in the palm of my hand. Tonight, I had to go through the same process to release them, as it was just that cold.

And now...the cable, TV and phone are out. I called RCN on my cell and asked them what was wrong. They said they had no other calls from my area, so they'd send someone over to check things out. I asked if I had to be awake and here for that, and she said it was most likely the wind and the snow pulled down one of the lines, or loosened them.

So I don't have to stay up for the cable guy. I think I'll get some sleep.
