This is where I should have spent the remainder of my day, considering how tired and achey I was. However, I only got the chance to lie in the big fold-out chair for a minute:
A quick lie-down before heading back up to the office. One day, I'll skip the gym and just go downstairs for a nap. Maybe tomorrow. I'm still feeling pretty crummy.
I went back upstairs and finished my part of Laurie's document. Tamra proofed it, and Stephanie worked on a paper she had due for school. We hadn't gotten any work in since this afternoon, and no calls at all, so I told everybody that they could head home once Laurie finished her document. Everyone was pretty happy about that.
I stayed behind to get some ideas for Chris' website. It appears as if every custom millwork company in the world uses graph paper as their background. And what's the deal with the use of Comic Sans MS as a font? It's only useful for carnival posters.
At any rate, I played around with the website, and then went around snapping the photos that are in this entry. By the time i was done, it was time to wend my way to Harvard Square to go to a chorale event with The Fabulous Robert
I snapped this on the way to Harvard Square. I used to do comedy in the top of this restaurant. The manager of the comedy club had no idea what she was doing, and made us set up all the tables and chairs before each show. We didn't even get paid as much as the waitstaff (before tips)! Still, the Hong Kong holds some nostalgia for me.
The event wass a performance of two church pieces; Mass for Four Voices by William Byrd, followed by Requiem by Herbert Howells.
I enjoyed the singing very much, as I did the conversation with Robert. Being back inside a church for something other than a wedding or a funeral was a bit different for me. I felt a lot of Catholic guilt creeping in for no good reason. Or perhaps I was just starting to feel the effects of whatever it is that is afflicting me right now.
I offered Robert a ride back to Jamaica Plain, which he gracefully accepted. We had a nice conversation in the car, and I didn't get lost on the way home (I've found the best way to get out of any section of Boston is to take one road in any direction as far as it goes. You're bound to end up somewhere you know eventually.
At any rate, Robert allowed me to take a silly picture of him in the car, and that's the image I'll leave you with:
Fabulous!
