I'm very tired tonight. I've been tired all day.
The alarm went off and I thought I'd forgotten something. I sat up quickly, remembering that I had a dentist appointment at 8am. Considering it was 7:45am, I dressed as quickly as I could, brushed my teeth, and zoomed out the door.
A few months back, the crown in the upper right-hand corner of my mouth cracked, and I needed to have it repaired or replaced.
I got to the dentist's office a couple of minutes late. Dr. T. got me in his chair and said that he'd first try to pop the crown off, but if it was cemented in too well, he'd have to drill it out. He pulled out an instrument that looked like a really heavy crochet hook with something that slides up and down. It makes an ominous noise, but I've been numbed up and Dr. T. isn't pulling out a real tooth anyway, just a crown.
He starts in, hooking the tool under my crown, and I figure out what the slidey bit is for. It taps against the other end of the instrument, knocking the hook up, which is supposed to loosen the crown.
After four or five hits, Dr. T. says he's going to take a break and then give it three more tries. Why he picked three, I don't know, but it doesn't make a difference, because the crown is cemented in very well, and has to be drilled out.
Dr. T. drags out the drill, and I get to begin my morning hearing a grinding sound in the back of my head. After awhile, the crown comes loose and then it's out. Dr. T. takes some impressions of the post with some blue goo that takes four minutes to set (icky stuff), then finally lets me rinse. I get some cement or something placed over the post for the time being and set an appointment for a couple of weeks from today.
All this, and I was only a few minutes late for work. Not bad, but I felt like I was going to fall asleep all day long.
I was in such a rush to the dentist that I forgot my gym bag. It's probably just as well, because I was feeling so lazy (drowsy) today that I don't think a run would have done me any good. I had a lot of work to do, so I ordered lunch in from the Greek place down the street (chicken kabobs; not exactly "diet" food).
There's very little to report about work; I don't think I left my desk for more than ten minutes all day.
So I ate more than I have since I started dieting and I didn't get any exercise. Righteous! Fat and lazy!
I got home to a dinner of hamburgers and French fries (more health food), and then helped Mom put a skim coat of joint compound on the walls of the little bathroom. Neither one of us knows anything about skim coating, but I think it'll be good enough.
Mom said to warn visitors that the little bathroom might cause nausea, because the walls might appear to be wavy, with all the joint compound over them.
After that, it was nothing but surfing the web and watching cable.
Nothing else happened at all today. I ate. I sat. I'm thinking of peanut butter and bacon sandwiches, which can only lead down a wrong path, so I'm going to call it an early night and go to bed.
