Scott and I were supposed to meet around noon or 1:30pm to hang out for the day. He spent the night at his sister's house and went yard sale-ing with both his sisters this morning. Because I'm an inherently lazy guy, I just hung around waiting for him to call me. When 2pm arrived, I called him, a little worried about what was going on. At 3:30pm, he called me, very apologetic. It seemed that he wrote down my phone number, but it was my work number.

I decided forgiveness was the best route, and ran over to his house. We watched Underworld: Evolution, which was almost universally panned by the critics, but I kind of enjoyed it. It wasn't any worse than the original Underworld, which was all about vampires and werewolves and leather and Scott Speedman. The sequel didn't lack any of that, and even though the plot made almost no sense whatsoever (something about the lineage of the warring immortal factions), the action was decent, and there was a lot of fetishistic violence and leather and did I mention Scott Speedman?

We laid on the couch in my absolute favorite way, which is to have my guy lying down against my chest with my arms around him. He seems to like it just fine, too.

We talked about the fact that I'm definitely moving in September, and he said that he decided this morning that he was happy I was accepting this opportunity, and also that he's really glad we have a couple of months to get to know one another better before I leave. We'll see how the "long-distance" thing goes when it happens.

I had to go at about 7 to make it to Mary Ellen and Jeff's house for a cookout. I always misjudge how long it takes me to get from my new city to where I used to live, so I was late. Laurie was on the phone with Mary Ellen when I got to her driveway. I hope I didn't piss anyone off by being late!

Mary Ellen and Jeff apparently just got a new grill, and they treated us to marinated chicken, steak, and vegetables. Jeff said that he'd marinated the veggies in the "nuclear" Hilltop Steak House dressing, which happens to be one of my favorite dressings for salads. It really made the asparagus taste great.

We got to meet Sam the guinea pig in person (I love his little stripe of white hair on the top of his head), and then we sat down to watch a couple of episodes of the new Doctor Who. I loved the first series doctor, but the second series doctor has his own charms, and I'm sure I'll get used to him.

Jeff and Mary Ellen also bought some really cool, sleek IKEA furniture for their new place, which I admired. I noted that I'd love to go to IKEA and pick up some new stuff for the house, but since I'm moving out in a couple of months, that doesn't make a heck of a lot of sense.

Laurie is unfortunately on a tight schedule at night, because GreyKitty has to be on a strict insulin routine that means she needs her insulin by 10:30pm at the very latest. I also knew that Bonnie would probably be crossing her legs in order to keep from peeing by the time I got home. Pet responsibilities...they never end!

When I got home, I noticed a mess on the couch. I thought Rita had used it as a litterbox, which isn't like her at all, then I noticed it was a great big hairball. Gross nonetheless, but at least I know she's not being bad about her bathroom habits. And luckily, I had a comforter on the couch, so nothing got on the cushions. I'll jus thave to make a trip to the laundromat sometime soon to clean things up.

Tomorrow is yard work day at Mom's. She's trimming the hedges, and it's my job to take all the clippings down to the compost heap in the back. I'm not really allowed to trim the shrubs, since I tend to go a little too extreme, and they're more "stumps" than "shrubs." I also have to install the air conditioners and various other summery-type projects.

I can't believe the Fourth of July is only a couple of weeks away! There's a lot of prep involved with it, so I have to be as available and helpful as possible. It's great that I'll still be here for the celebration as well as the Quinn family cookout the next weekend.

I'll have to book tickets soon for my cousin Susan's wedding, which is September 30th. I have the feeling I'll be traveling quite a bit over the next few months.

For now...bed!
