Gazing into the Abyss: Michael Rawdon's Journal

Time Flies

This week sure went by quickly. Seems like I just blinked a few times, and suddenly it's Friday.

I guess I don't have a whole lot to say about this week. Debbi has been out of town at a business conference for her company, so I've been amusing myself at night this week. Watched a lot of TV, read the week's comic books (the new Planetary came out! Yay!), decided to pass on gaming, and finally worked out this morning once my calf muscles stopped aching from all the hiking I did with Karen last weekend.

I also received my 1999 tax amendment, which I looked over, decided it looked good, and mailed it off. So that's one more thing off my list!

Oh, and I crossed one more big things off my list, or at least started to: I sent e-mail to a mortgage broker I'd been recommended and he replied with a form for me to fill out so I can move towards getting preapproved for a mortgage.

It took me a long time to work up to this. Even now, I wussed out (a bit) and didn't actually phone the guy, but I finally decided (as I did when I contacted my tax preparer) that it was more important for me to get the ball rolling than to keep trying to overcome my discomfort with phoning businesses for the first time like this. E-mail is handy that way, though I guess you could argue it's also a crutch. But, you know, it's not going away (or, if it does, telephones are probably going with it), so why fight it?

Other than that, I kept plugging away at work, and tonight I went to Cafe Borrone and did some reading. Anders joined me about an hour after I arrived, and we talked intermittently. It sounds like he's pretty happy with the work I've been doing so far, which is cool! It was a nice way to round out the week.
