I'm a Comics Geek

Below is a letter I had published in a recent issue of Comics Buyer's Guide in response to a column that comic book writer and SF media novelist Peter David had written about Marvel's "Silent Month". The premise of Silent Month is that for one month all Marvel Comics would be published without any dialogue. Apparently many fans have not liked this concept, and David suggested that their dislike is misguided because writers still have to write even if there isn't any dialogue, and writing without text in comics is just one more approach a writer can take to his craft.

I'm essentially indifferent towards Silent Month, but I felt that David missed the point. Hence, my letter:
