Gazing into the Abyss: Michael Rawdon's Journal

Little Things

I had a pleasant surprise when I woke up yesterday morning: The scale told me that I'm on the verge of dropping below a 10-pound boundary in my weight. Since I've been cranking up my jogging, I seem to have stopped only converting fat into muscle and I'm now actually losing some of the weight. Hopefully I can keep it up, increase my distance, and finally lose some pounds.

I spent a little time tweaking my new study floorplan, which opened up a little more space and I think will be a good arrangement for the duration of my stay here. Then, Ben called to ask if I was interested in gaming. I figured, sure, have some social contact. So we gathered at Subrata's and played North American Rails, which Subrata won. Afterwards, Subrata and I went to Frankie Johnny and Luigi's for italian food. I ate too darned much and felt uncomfortably full all evening, resulting in a somewhat restless night's sleep, and still feeling somewhat full when I woke up this morning.

And needless to say, this morning my weight had bounced back to the high end of its current range. (I tend to vary about by up to 3 pounds from day-to-day.) Well, I will take it easy on the food for this week.

Today I gave my credit card number to eBay in preparation to start listing some comics to sell through their site, now that I have my scanner to scan covers. Haven't yet put up my first set, though.

I also think I'm going to sign up for Amazon.com's associates program, which I guess has the potential to get some credit for any sales they make for people following links through my Web site. From what I recall of Ceej's experience with it, it doesn't amount to a whole lot, but then, it doesn't take a whole lot of effort, either, so what the heck?

It's been a fairly sedate couple of days, otherwise. It's been getting chillier, and it rained most of yesterday and overnight, so I guess we're entering the rainy season. Which is actually something of a relief.

Links du jour:

  1. Pete Townshend will soon release a Life House box set. This is the project which spawned The Who's best album, Who's Next. It sounds like it will be somewhat padded, but I'm a big enough Who fan that I'll surely buy it.

  2. Townshend also reportedly has a Web site, which is interesting because it has not yet been set up. All you get is a directory listing of the login script files. Bizarre.

  3. I've heard that Sports Night, one of my favorite shows, has been cancelled, but have not been able to confirm it. An alternate rumor is that it's simply not running during November sweeps month. Anyone know anything about this?

  4. Apple stock rose 8 points today, closing in on the $100/share mark. The prevailing theory seems to be that Microsoft competitors generally gained in stock price as a result of the anti-trust ruling against the company, though Microsoft's stock price itself did not fall much.
