I got to see a lot of my friends, many of whom flew or
drove in from out-of-state too. Amy lives in Chicago
now,
Though Pete and Jamie still live in Rochester:
We were all there to play Caps, a traditional game involving
bottle caps and beer.
A lot of people showed up; there were sixteen teams of two (you can
see the tournament chart in the background below), plus lots
of spectators. It was pretty crowded in the attic where we held
the games.
Foodmike and Jill played against my team in our second game,
and we beat them good.
But they were still their happy selves despite their loss.
The scariest moment for my team was when we were losing 9-0.
The game plays to 10, and if the losing team gets shut out
they have to drink the vile Red Bull tequila. Luckily, at
the last minute my teammate Tomtom sunk a cap and made a point,
saving us from the penalty drink.
I was so happy about it that I kicked a couple of nearby glasses
over.
Our opponents Joe and Pete weren't too sure why we were so
happy, since we lost 10-1.
Everyone crowded upstairs to watch the final game, with A.J.,
Trevor and Matt keeping the official score. I forget who won.
Once the tournament was over (it had gone from 6pm-10pm), George
Clinton showed up and the party really started.
The next day I spent most of my time hanging out at my friends'
house, where a bunch of the other tournament players were staying.
